Foothills Genealogical Society is planning a trip to Salt Lake City in 2024. We are welcoming anyone who would like to join us to do research in the FamilySearch Library.
The FamilySearch Library of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is one of the largest genealogical libraries in the world. It is located in downtown Salt Lake City, Utah, on the southwest side of Temple Square. The library is operated by FamilySearch, a nonprofit genealogical organization owned by the Church and dedicated to connecting families across generations. The library is free of charge and open to the public.
You will need to make your own reservation at the hotel. Salt Lake City Plaza Hotel, 122 West S Temple Street, SLC, Utah 84101 Phone No. 801-606-2410. Richard Williams is your contact person for making a reservation. Hotel Rates: $100.00 Per night small room/$110.00 Per night large room. Both based on Double occupancy and both rooms have 2 queen beds. Be sure to mention Foothills Genealogical Society, when reserving a room.
Airline transportation will need to be done by the person planning on traveling to SLC. There is an Airport Tram to take you to the hotel and it stops at the front entrance of the Plaza Hotel. Right now, the attached restaurant is closed but might be open sometime next year. I will be putting together some suggestion about searching for family records in the SLC library.
