This unique database contains over 43,000 records of individuals in cemeteries located throughout Clear Creek, Gilpin, Jefferson, and Park Counties. These records have been collected and maintained for over 40 years by FhGS members and other historians and genealogists who strive to make this a valuable, trusted genealogical resource.
The purpose of the class is to provide an overview of the cemetery database with an update on recent changes. The changes to the cemetery database have been made based on feedback we received from people who are using the database and those maintaining the records. These changes will make the look and feel of the Cemetery Records cleaner, simpler, and easier to use.
The number of search fields has been reduced to make it easier to use the search function. The number of fields displayed on the summary page have been reduced to make it easier to read a page of search results. Finally, all the specific information about each record will be available by clicking the Information Icon to view the details.
The class will begin with a review of the Cemeteries in the database. It will include reviewing the search capabilities and the information displayed on the summary page. The detailed view of each cemetery will include a discussion of the additional information that is provided.
The main portion of the class will be devoted to reviewing files containing the records of individuals who are buried (of listed) in the Cemeteries. These individual records are available through the Cemetery Records view. As with the Cemeteries, a discussion of the search capabilities and how to use them to find records will be presented. The summary page results will be discussed before moving to the individual burial details. The review of these records will include a discussion of the new fields that have been added. We will also discuss how and where more information about each individual may be found.
For those members who maintain the Records table in the database which contains the individual records, the class will discuss how to utilize the new fields that have been added. For example, a description field is available for images and a new link field is available for individual records.
