The Colorado Council of Genealogical Societies invites society leaders, board members, society members and active volunteers to a free, online workshop focused on strengthening your genealogy society. This year’s event includes a dynamic keynote and four focused sessions designed to help you lead, grow, and thrive.
What You’ll Learn:
9:00 – 10:00 AM | Introduction and Keynote Presentation Energize Your Message: Presenting with Power and Purpose Presented by Ed Moehlenkamp, Leadership Development Consultant Ed will share proven strategies for improving both in-person and virtual presentations, including how to structure content for clarity, use body language and eye contact effectively, engage audiences on Zoom, and avoid overwhelming people with too much information in PowerPoint slides. His presentation will give you tools you can immediately apply to your own society programs and outreach.
10:10 – 11:10 AM | Session 1: Sustainability Strategies for Society Boards(Panel discussion – panelists to be announced)
11:20 – 12:20 AM | Session 2: Membership Growth and Retention (Panel discussion – panelists to be announced)
12:30 PM – 1:30 PM | Session 3: Designing Flyers and Social Media with Canva Presented by Barbara Lane (bio coming)
1:40 – 2:40 PM | Session 4: Using AI to Supercharge Your Newsletter and Website Presented by Nancy Dierker (bio coming)

Keynote speaker: Ed Moehlenkamp
We are excited to announce that Ed Moehlenkamp has accepted our invitation to be our keynote speaker for the 2025 Society Management Workshop!
With more than 35 years of experience as an international consultant, speaker, and trainer, Ed has taught over 15,000 professionals how to present with confidence and impact. He is also the author of UnLearning:How to Help Great People Become Great Teams.
Ed’s keynote will focus on how to present programs and improve your speaking and presentation skills. Whether you are using PowerPoint, speaking on Zoom, live-streaming on Facebook, or presenting in person. He will cover how to avoid overwhelming audiences with slides, how to make presentations clear and memorable, and how to keep your audience engaged. You will also learn key techniques for live presentations such as making eye contact, using purposeful body movement, and pausing for impact.
This keynote will be a valuable session for anyone who presents programs, leads meetings, or teaches classes. These skills every society can benefit from.
