Looking Back for a Vision Forward

Presented by David Allison, Broomfield History and Museum Supervisor

How do we make sense of the past in order to understand the present? What role does nostalgia play in shaping our concept of history? David Allison will lead a journey through “difficult history” as a pathway to deeper understanding and healing for ourselves and our society.

He is the History and Museum Supervisor for the City and County of Broomfield. He began a career in museums as a front-line interpreter at Conner Prairie Interactive History Park in Indiana and, while there, was awarded the Indiana Governor’s Award for Tomorrow’s Leaders for his contributions to the museum field and the central Indiana community. He has since served in a variety of supervisory and managerial roles at the Golden History Museums and the Denver Museum of Nature & Science before joining the Broomfield team.

Allison holds an MA in US History from Indiana University and an MBA from Regis University. His publications include Living History: Effective Costumed Interpretation and Engagement at Museums and Historic Sites and Controversial Monuments and Memorials: A Guide for Community Leaders.

Guests are always welcome. There is ample parking and accessible entrance at Applewood Valley United Methodist Church, 2035 Ellis St., Golden, CO, 80401. To attend or receive the ZOOM link, register at https://foothillsgenealogy.org and click on events.
